2 Local Government IT Positions in Recruitment

Lake County's Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller seeks to hire a systems administrator, and the city of Eustis is recruiting for a network administrator.

Lake County’s Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller is seeking to hire a systems administrator to maintain its physical and virtual servers, virtual desktop infrastructure, enterprise applications and enterprise storage.

Job duties include:
  • Planning, implementing, configuring, monitoring, troubleshooting and administering on-premises and cloud-based enterprise infrastructure, services, enterprise applications, IoT devices, enterprise storage systems, hypervisors, virtual desktop infrastructure, certificates and other devices and enterprise software
  • Meeting with staff and vendors to determine project parameters and desired outcomes
  • Performing comprehensive administration and testing of data backups to ensure data backup integrity and recoverability
  • Recovering data and systems in case of a system, software, infrastructure or cybersecurity failure
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive system and process documentation
Minimum requirements for the role include a bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or another closely related field from an accredited college or university, plus two years of direct, verifiable and related work experience.

Meanwhile, the city of Eustis is recruiting for a network administrator to join its IT division.

According to the job posting, the city is seeking a trustworthy, responsible individual who can manage the city’s network infrastructure, install and maintain the operation of its local area network, and evaluate all vendor-provided hardware, software and telecommunications equipment.

The candidate must also recommend purchases consistent with short and long-term objectives, recommend and implement network policies and standards, and install, maintain, troubleshoot and upgrade all city computer hardware, software and electronic mail systems.

Minimum requirements for the role include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in information science, plus four to five years of experience in installing, configuring and supporting computer networks, along with the following experience and abilities:
  • Knowledge of Windows server platforms, exchange servers, Active Directory, Windows operating systems, firewall principles and networking infrastructure 
  • Ability to establish and maintain production and quality control for computer operations 
  • Knowledge of general principles of computer systems operation, including potential uses and limitations 
  • Considerable knowledge of cybersecurity posturing 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where limited standardization exists
