A Look at DeSantis’ IT Budget Proposals for DMS

A few notable recommendations for the Department of Management Services include $10 million for local government cyber grants, $5 million for incident response, $2.6 million for L3Harris BeOn licenses and $1.8 million for an emergency 911 public safety answering points upgrade.

The Department of Management Services, which contains the Florida Digital Service, would receive millions of dollars for local government cyber grants, IT project oversight and other activities under Gov. Ron DeSantis’ budget recommendations for fiscal year 2025-26.

IT PROJECT OVERSIGHT


DeSantis recommended $2.4 million for IT project oversight, coming in short of the agency’s $3.4 million request.

Specific recommendations for the agency include $500,000 for enterprise IT program management enhancement.

OFFICE OF THE STATE CIO


DeSantis recommended $68.7 million for the Office of the State Chief Information Officer, coming in short of the agency’s $100.3 million request.

That includes $10 million for the Local Government Cybersecurity Grant Program, short of the agency’s $37.5 million request.

Specific recommendations for the agency include:
  • $5 million for an incident response retainer  
  • $3 million for reprocurements 
  • $2.5 million for email security  
  • $1.5 million for vulnerability management 
  • $250,000 for a data security and vulnerability pilot project

TELECOMMUNICATION SERVICES


DeSantis recommended $190.2 million for telecommunication services, coming in short of the agency’s $325.9 million request.

Specific recommendations for the agency include $1.8 million to upgrade 911 public safety answering points.

WIRELESS SERVICES


DeSantis recommended $54.7 million for wireless services, coming in short of the agency’s $60.7 million request.

Specific recommendations for the agency include $2.6 million for L3Harris BeOn licenses.
