Alachua County Recruiting for IT Services Director

The incumbent will direct and supervise the daily operations of the county’s information and telecommunication services department and oversee the performance, support and maintenance of all business systems and IT infrastructure.

Alachua County is recruiting for an information and telecommunication services director to oversee its IT department, business systems and IT infrastructure.

According to the job posting, “This position is responsible for providing leadership relative to the management of IT professionals, hardware and software assets, and policies, processes and practices required to deliver secure and strategic business and technology solutions.”

Additional job functions and responsibilities include:
  • Managing a diverse administrative and operational team responsible for technology procurement, IT department budget, project management, innovation and infrastructure support 
  • Leading the organization in innovation and implementation of technology-based improvements and advising on technology opportunities and strategies 
  • Advising departments on technology business strategies to improve productivity and expansion of services 
  • Approving requests and purchase orders for departmental supplies, technology hardware and software, capital items, services, maintenance agreements and other similar expenditures 
  • Remaining responsive to the evolving nature of technology   
Also noted are the following minimum requirements for the job: The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in information systems, IT, computer programming, computer science or another similarly related field.

The candidate must have five years of “progressively responsible administrative experience” and three years of supervisory experience in information services management, systems design, data management, software applications development, support network design and management, project management, or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
