Broward County Recruiting for Data and Field Operations Manager

The incumbent in this position will oversee field operations and review all water quality monitoring data collected on behalf of the Natural Resources Division's environmental monitoring laboratory.

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners seeks to hire a data and field operations manager (Chemist Supervisor) to support the Natural Resources Division's environmental monitoring laboratory.

According to the job posting, “The position requires knowledge of water quality techniques and environmental parameters to successfully assess all data produced by the laboratory for reporting to government agencies.”

The candidate would also update the division’s dashboard and website and upload watershed information network data.

Additional duties and responsibilities include:
  • Validating laboratory data, preparing analytical reports for release to clients and regulatory agencies, and managing the lab’s Demonstration of Capability Program
  • Managing the division’s proficiency testing program and monitoring all lab documentation forms through a laboratory document tracking system  
  • Updating and maintaining the laboratory’s Quality Assurance Manual, which dictates quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) measures and standards for quality laboratory practices  
  • Performing all internal QA/QC laboratory audits, plus any other additional audits for the division   
  • Instructing, consulting, and assisting lab staff with all questions and concerns regarding QA/QC practices and requirements  
Also noted are the following minimum requirements for the job: the candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in chemistry or another closely related field; four years of experience doing chemical analysis work; and one year of experience holding a supervisory or lead worker position is required.
