Broward County Seeks Vendor for Collision Avoidance Detection System

Vendor responsibilities would include supplying all necessary labor, materials, equipment and preventive maintenance for Broward County Transportation Department’s collision avoidance detection system.

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners has issued a bid for vendors to provide and install a collision avoidance detection system with additional driver aid software for the county’s transportation department.

“Award of this contract will be made to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder on a total bid price (sum of all items) basis,” the bid document states.

Vendors must submit solicitation responses electronically and confirm their submittal for the county to receive a valid response through Periscope S2G, the county’s bid database.

Required vendor services include:

  • Providing a collision avoidance detection system 
  • Retrofitting approximately 400 buses from various manufacturers, with the ability to accommodate future retrofit needs on new fleets 
  • Providing all required sensors to provide warnings of sideway, headway, pedestrian and cyclist collisions 
  • Providing sensors that detect hazards in varying speeds, traffic, weather and other environments, including hot summer months 
  • Providing driver alert displays, windshield-mounted smart sensors and exterior smart sensors
