For tech vendors targeting the Florida state government, insights from a recent Industry Insider — Florida webinar are key. Joe Morris, chief innovation officer for Industry Insider parent e.Republic, summarized the state budget signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in June.

Overall highlights:
  • Florida's fiscal outlook is strong, with a 5 percent increase in gross domestic product since 2019
  • General fund collections have increased by $2 billion year-over-year
  • The state spends more than $3.4 billion annually on technology
  • IT projects: $77.6 million for the Medicaid management system replacement, $100 million for cybersecurity modernization and $13 million for next-generation 911 system maintenance

Department of Law Enforcement
  • $11.8 million for crime databases
  • $10 million for radio system upgrades
  • $3.1 million for mobile command vehicles and command center technology renovations for local governments
  • $3 million for criminal justice network bandwidth
  • $2.1 million for communication tower upgrades
Division of Emergency Management
  • $18.8 million for 911 call transfer upgrades
  • $17.8 million for new emergency operations center equipment and installation
  • $13 million for next-generation 911 maintenance
  • $6 million for local government public safety communication and radio replacements/upgrades
  • $1.6 million for a statewide tracking application
Department of Environmental Protection
  • $10.8 million for public information portal maintenance
  • $2.4 million for supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and automation projects

  • $800,400 for computers and a mobile computer lab
  • $350,000 for a broadband Internet/digital access and education initiative at the Apalachee Ridge Technology Center
Secretary of State
  • $2.5 million for voter registration system modernization
Department of Transportation
  • $3.1 million for the data infrastructure modernization project

  • $61.4 million for Florida’s Planning, Accounting and Ledger Management (PALM) System
  • $100 million for cybersecurity modernization
