Industry Insider — Florida will host its first Member Briefing in Tallahassee on Jan. 30, providing industry members a chance to gain insights from top tech leaders in the capital.

The upcoming briefing will feature two state of Florida IT leaders:
  • Scott McPherson became CIO for the Florida House of Representatives in 2006. He led the development of the Legislature’s first “app” and served until August 2022. He previously received awards for his work as CIO at the Florida Department of Corrections; before that he led Gov. Jeb Bush's Team Florida 2000, the state's Y2K preparedness effort, which played a crucial role post-9/11.
  • Martin Stevens has served as CIO for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection since May 2023. Previously, he served as CIO for the Florida Department of Education’s Division of Early Learning. With seven years in the U.S. Army and a degree in computer science from Middle Tennessee State University, Martin brings extensive experience in both private and public sectors.

“I am excited to host our inaugural Industry Insider — Florida member briefing with two outstanding speakers and longtime state of Florida IT leaders,” said Mike Driessen, publisher of Industry Insider. “These briefings are a unique opportunity to deepen your knowledge of these state departments and build relationships. I look forward to seeing our members at the briefing and getting their ideas on future speakers and topics.”

The live Member Briefing is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 30 at the Florida State Conference Center, Meeting Room 103. The briefing is open to members of Industry Insider. More details about the event as well as a registration link can be found online.
