To qualify for the position, the incumbent must have five or more years of experience managing enterprise Unix and Linux environments.
The role's duties include:
- Managing user accounts and permissions, implementing access controls and ensuring system security through firewalls, intrusion detection systems and secure configurations
- Monitoring system performance and uptime and diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues in real time
- Applying system patches and updates and monitoring logs and audit trails to identify suspicious activity
- Setting up and managing system backups and developing and testing disaster recovery plans
- Configuring and troubleshooting network interfaces such as DNS, DHCP, routing and VPNs, as well as monitoring network traffic and overall performance
