Department of Juvenile Justice Recruiting Database Consultant

The position will manage and optimize enterprise application databases.

The Florida Department of Juvenile Justice seeks an experienced database consultant to manage enterprise application databases, with expertise in performance tuning.

According to the job posting, duties and responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring database availability, performance and proactive monitoring for secure, minimal downtime services
  • Performance tuning and troubleshooting in SQL environments
  • Overseeing database improvements, maintenance, rollouts and upgrades
  • Supporting production activities as needed
  • Handling database maintenance, backups, disaster recovery and error/log troubleshooting
Minimum requirements are:
  • High school diploma or equivalent as well as four or more years of SSIS package development experience
  • Four or more years supporting large, high-performance database solutions for web-based applications
  • Knowledge of business automation to improve operations, productivity and data flow efficiency
  • Skilled in query optimization, data analysis and database tuning
  • Experience with data migration, data warehousing and strong written and verbal communication skills
Preference will be given to candidates with five or more years of experience as a senior database administrator, expertise in Microsoft SQL Server 2008+ and Transact-SQL and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
