Department of Management Services Seeking Senior Data Analyst

The position will assist the Office of Data Management within the Florida Digital Service with the implementation of the state enterprise data catalog.

The Florida Department of Management Services is recruiting a senior data analyst to join the Florida Digital Service (FL [DS]) to support the implementation of the state enterprise data catalog in Tallahassee.

FL [DS] is the lead entity for state enterprise cybersecurity and aims to propose innovative solutions for securely modernizing state government and supporting the state’s cloud-first policy.

“The office is creating the enterprise data catalog for the state of Florida that will become the foundation for interoperability and turning data into knowledge” as stated on the website.

According to the job posting, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of six years of experience with technology projects.

Responsibilities for the position consist of:
  • Supporting the implementation of the state enterprise data catalog
  • Creating extract transform load (ETL) jobs from diverse data sources
  • Developing and maintaining dashboards with business intelligence tools
  • Assisting with commercial data catalog solutions as needed
Skills and abilities include:
  • Expert SQL skills and experience with developing ETL processes
  • Experience in Snowflake or other relational database management systems
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards using business intelligence software
  • Familiarity with metadata and various data types, including structured, semi-structured and unstructured data sets
  • Experience writing high-quality technical documentation and hands-on database design experience
