DFS Recruiting for Applications Development Manager

The incumbent in this position will lead the Department of Financial Services’ consumer protection application development team, design system architectures, oversee technical interfaces and database objects, and write clean code.

The Florida Department of Financial Services is recruiting for an applications development manager.

According to the job posting, “this is a supervisory IT position that leads the consumer protection application development team” by managing the team’s performance, providing technical direction and ensuring effective communication.

The role also entails overseeing the agency’s development process, including design, coding and testing, while adhering to best practices and developing N-tier Microsoft .NET web applications.

Additional duties and responsibilities include writing clean code, designing systems architecture and overseeing technical interfaces and database objects.

To qualify for the role, potential candidates must have the following qualifications:
  • Seven or more years of software development experience, including three or more years of leadership experience, either managing small teams or taking the lead on projects  
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, business administration or another related field or an associate degree in the same areas of study, plus two years of the required experience 
  • Strong C#, ASP.NET MVC fundamentals  
  • Experience with Web API and SQL Server  
  • An understanding of JavaScript and other related frameworks, such as AngularJS and React
