Environmental Protection Department Recruiting for OPS Programming Consultant

The state’s environmental protection agency is looking to hire a programming consultant to help support, maintain and enhance more than 120 agency business applications.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is looking to hire an OPS system programming consultant to help support, maintain and enhance more than 120 agency business applications.

As a member of OTIS’ technical team, the role focuses on modernizing DEP’s existing PHP portfolio and managing application servers.

Other specific job responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining and supporting agency key enterprise PHP applications and providing oversight to the larger team 
  • Performing technology and architecture upgrades to ensure the stability of applications in DEP’s portfolio 
  • Maintaining and enhancing PHP applications using CodeIgniter and Laravel 
  • Maintaining and updating continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines 
  • Maintaining Oracle database objects associated with supported systems 

Also noted in the job description are the following required skills, knowledge and abilities:
  • A college diploma or university degree in computer science, information systems, information technology or another related field 
  • More than eight years of experience using PHP application frameworks 
  • More than five years of experience working with modern UI frameworks 
  • More than five years of experience using relational databases  
  • Performing research and delivering proposals and prototypes for new frameworks
