The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is seeking to hire a network systems specialist.

The candidate would join the department’s Cyber Bureau, which investigates complex cyber crimes across the state, as part of its Electronic Surveillance Support Team.

As a network systems specialist, the role acts as a project manager and administrator for complex systems and networks and oversee all system designs, architecture, security and deployments.

Other job responsibilities include:
  • Designing and deploying systems that support surveillance and cyber missions 
  • Designing and providing information security implementation strategies for the state’s law enforcement agencies 
  • Designing and configuring comprehensive network architectures and security procedures for undercover criminal investigations 
  • Advising management staff on technical strategies to employ during criminal investigations 
  • Coordinating training, acquiring technical equipment, identifying evidence collection solutions and assisting FDLE’s protective operations unit as it relates to technical issues 

Necessary knowledge, skills and abilities include:
  • Knowledge of Internet architecture, fundamental computer operations and telecommunications software and protocols
  • Ability to provide technical assistance related to telecommunications systems 
  • Ability to plan, analyze and implement telecommunication systems 
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current technology trends and techniques
