The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has issued an invitation to bid (ITB) for a 2 GB broadband Internet service project.

According to the ITB, FDOT is seeking contract services to provide high-speed unmanaged Internet access to its District Office (DO) building in DeLand.

Prospective vendors can provide Internet access to the DO in two ways:
  • Option 1 — office building location: The vendor can provide Internet services onsite at the DO located at 719 S. Woodland Blvd. in DeLand, along with all necessary infrastructure and equipment to connect the office to FDOT’s communications equipment.
  • Option 2 — vendor handoff to FDOT field locations: The vendor can also choose to provide a handoff at the field location. The vendor will be responsible for the construction, installation, operation and maintenance of all added infrastructure, equipment and connections associated with connecting to FDOT’s communication network. Lastly, the vendor would be asked to provide a fiber drop to FDOT’s existing fiber splice vault for network connectivity and facilitate any permits, easements or approvals necessary to run fiber and install any infrastructure.
The ITB specifies the following vendor services:
  • A minimum of 2 GBPS Internet access
  • A 28-address block or 14 useable addresses
  • A fiber or Ethernet handoff
  • Internet connectivity with 99.99 percent uptime
  • 24/7/365 circuit monitoring, reporting and resolution support
If chosen for the opportunity, the vendor contract would span three years, starting July 1, 2025, and running through June 30, 2028.

More information about DOT-ITB-25-5011-INTS can be found online. Vendor proposals are due by 10 a.m. on March 25. Jennifer Allcock is the point of contact for this solicitation.
