The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has issued an invitation to bid (ITB) to purchase radar vehicle detection systems for use in Lake County.

According to the ITB, these systems will be installed at signalized intersections across the county.

The prospective vendor would be asked to provide sensors, in-cabinet equipment, mounting hardware and proprietary cabling to install the system successfully.

Radar vehicle detection systems can identify vehicles and other objects, primarily for traffic management and safety. They can be used for traffic signal control, wrong-way driver alerts and cyclist and pedestrian detection.

FDOT is looking to enter into a three-year contract with a vendor that can provide the following equipment:
  • A VantageRadius sensor unit
  • A VantageRadiusPlus sensor
  • Universal sensor mounting bracket assembly
  • Outdoor-rated CAT-6A shielded cable
  • A 10-inch color LCD monitor with HDMI input
More information about DOT-ITB-25-5013-IDE2 can be found online. All questions must be submitted by 10 a.m. on April 22, and the submission deadline is 10 a.m. on April 30. The contact for this solicitation is Jennifer Allcock.
