For context, FDOT’s District One includes cities such as Arcadia, Bartow, Bradenton, Cape Coral, Englewood, Fort Myers, Haines City, Lake Wales, Lakeland, Naples, North Port, Okeechobee, Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Sarasota, Sebring, Wauchula, Winter Haven and Venice.
According to the RFP, “This installation is intended to improve the Bridgetender’s visibility of pedestrian and bicycle facilities between the gate arms on each bridge.”
With that said, the chosen vendor must provide the following:
- Lidar sensors, 28 units, on existing traffic signal structures or new poles. The lidar sensor must be a Class I 1550nm laser, have a detection range of 2 to 500 meters, a field of view of 120o x 25o (horizontal x vertical), and 150-200 scan lines
- Uninterruptible power supply in each bridgetender station
- Next unit computing minicomputers in each bridgetender station
- Outsight lidar edge processor at each detection site and in each bridgetender station
- Point-to-point wireless radios (unlicensed links), one for each side of a bridgetender station
