FDOT Recruiting for Information Security, Risk Management Roles

The agency’s Information Security Management Office is looking to add two team members to focus on the security architecture of its critical IT infrastructure and risk management initiatives.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is looking to hire two new team members to join its Information Security Management Office.

One of these positions includes an information security architect role, which would identify optimal technology implementation strategies to secure FDOT’s environment while promoting and enabling business.

Specific job duties include:
  • Assisting the agency’s information security manager with researching, planning and designing the department’s cybersecurity infrastructure 
  • Developing security strategy plans and road maps based on sound enterprise architecture practices for all environments, including cloud and on-premise infrastructures 
  • Tracking changes in digital business and threat environments to ensure developments are adequately addressed in security strategy plans and architecture artifacts 
  • Validating IT infrastructure and other reference architectures for security best practices and recommending changes to enhance security and reduce risks, where applicable 
  • Supporting the office’s cyber risk management team in conducting security assessments of existing and prospective vendors

The other position FDOT is recruiting for is for an information security risk program manager.

According to the job posting, “this position will help develop the lens in which the department views and understands information technology and cyber risk at an enterprise level.”

Specific job responsibilities include:
  • Assisting the agency’s information security manager (ISM) with planning, managing and coordinating various cybersecurity risk management exercises to help identify and mitigate potential threats   
  • Overseeing and coordinating the department’s risk management program based on risk assessment, audits, best practices and direction provided by the ISM  
  • Developing methods for evaluating, assessing and managing third-party risks posed by business partners, suppliers and consultants  
  • Overseeing the completion of security risk assessments on departmental technology that’s being developed, purchased or updated  
  • Identifying processes that can be implemented to identify cybersecurity risk early in the procurement or contractual process
