Financial Services Department Recruiting for Network Engineer

The position will analyze, design, implement and maintain the department’s network infrastructure.

The Department of Financial Services is recruiting a network engineer within its distributed infrastructure group to analyze, design, implement and maintain the department’s network infrastructure.

According to the job posting, the position will deal with “highly technical work including design, implementation and maintenance for the department’s wide area network (WAN), local area network (LAN) and other voice/data communications support statewide.”

Other duties listed include:
  • Design, configure and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls and VPNs
  • Support and manage IPS network security and 802.11 wireless networks
  • Execute daily operational changes to network components as needed
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly and efficiently
  • Implement changes driven by policy updates, business needs, system deployments or system changes
The ideal candidate chosen for the role should have:
  • Five years of experience in network engineering, focusing on analysis, design, implementation, capacity planning and performance tuning of large networks
  • Five years of expertise in Cisco routing, switching and security with multilayer switches
  • Five years of configuring and troubleshooting BGP, EIGRP, OSPF and RIPv2
  • Two years of experience with wireless technologies, including wireless controllers and access points
  • Five years of experience managing firewalls in high-availability pairs
Preferred qualifications include four years of experience in a computer-related field, such as programming, computer science or engineering. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for this experience, or an associate degree along with two years of relevant experience is also acceptable.
