FLDFS Recruiting for Security Analyst, Systems Programmer

The Florida Department of Financial Services seeks to fill two positions: the first will monitor data access reports, endpoint detection events and firewall logs for anomalies, and the second will focus on installing and configuring the Windows Server operating system.

The Florida Department of Financial Services (FLDFS) is looking to hire an information security analyst and a Microsoft Windows Server administrator.

As an information security analyst, the incumbent would monitor data access reports, endpoint detection events and firewall logs for anomalies, and review and remediate issues found from threat intelligence sources.

Other responsibilities include implementing technical controls that secure the department’s IT assets and coordinating the implementation of secure standards for IT infrastructure operation, workstation administration and software development.

Required knowledge and abilities include:
  • Knowledge of Florida statutes and rules related to IT and information security 
  • The ability to analyze and interpret computer-related data 
  • Knowledge of electric circuit boards, processors, chips, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming 
  • Knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology security standards 
  • The ability to communicate business information effectively to users and information technology personnel

For the Microsoft Windows Server administrator or systems programmer role, the incumbent “will be responsible for installing and configuring the Windows Server operating system, including essential roles such as Active Directory, DNS and DHCP,” the job posting states.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring system security and stability by regularly applying operating system updates, service packs and patches; managing users, groups and organizational units through Active Directory; regularly monitoring system logs, access reviews and security audits; and configuring disk partitions, RAID setups and storage spaces.

Lastly, “the systems administrator will deploy and manage virtual machines synchronized on-premises Active Directory with Azure AD to support hybrid cloud environments” and “diagnose and resolve hardware, software and server-related issues while providing user support for system and access problems.”

Minimum requirements for the role include having four years of experience in computer science, IT, engineering or another related field, plus a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology and engineering or an associate degree plus two years of required experience.
