Florida Auditor General Recruiting for IT Lead Senior Auditor

Candidates should have extensive experience in IT auditing within a local, state or federal government oversight agency and have a working knowledge of government auditing standards.

The Florida Auditor General’s Office, which conducts audits of the accounts and records of state government, universities, colleges and school districts, is looking to fill various information technology auditor positions across the state, including in leadership roles.

According to the job posting, “An information technology auditor participates in the audit, analysis and testing of information technology controls across all layers of computing environments such as physical, operating system, database, network and application layers as well as end user processes and security.”

In terms of job openings, the Florida Auditor General’s Office is looking to fill positions in Tallahassee, Boynton Beach, DeLand, Fort Myers, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Miami, Orlando, Port St. Lucie, Sarasota and Tampa. Open positions include IT associate auditor, IT auditor, IT senior auditor and IT lead senior auditor.

As for the lead senior auditor position, the minimum qualifications for the role include:
  • A CPA certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy or a certified information systems auditor certificate 
  • Four years of relevant professional experience in IT auditing in a local, state or federal government oversight agency 
  • Working knowledge of government auditing standards plus generally accepted accounting and auditing principles and the internal control integrated framework established by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations 
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in accounting, management information systems or information studies; a master’s degree in information studies with an emphasis in IT, information systems or an IT-related field of study; or a master’s degree in business administration 

The hiring salary for the role is commensurate with experience, and the recruitment deadline is ongoing until filled.

The office is also recruiting for an IT applications engineer and database administrator, both in Tallahassee.
