The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is looking to hire a database consultant.

According to the job posting, the ideal candidate for this position would be responsible for high-level technical oversight and management for planning, designing, modeling, monitoring, testing, operating and maintaining database management systems.

“DEP relies heavily on science and technology to meet its mission and continually advance modern methods, platforms and innovations for this purpose. Examples at DEP include an application architecture leveraging Azure Kubernetes, a cloud-based server infrastructure, an industry-leading data analytics platform, and an advanced security management solution,” the posting reads.

Other specific responsibilities include:

  • Establishing and maintaining databases used for development, testing, production, data warehousing and public access   
  • Monitoring and reviewing the department’s database systems to ensure efficiency, integrity and security operations  
  • Recording, tracking and investigating problems reported by users and keeping management informed of potential trouble areas 
  • Planning and executing database migrations and upgrades  
  • Monitoring database performance across the development, beta and production services 
  • Performing OS and database patching for the OCI Oracle Base database systems
