Florida Digital Service Seeking Deputy State CISO of Strategy

The Florida Digital Service is setting up the state’s first enterprise cybersecurity program and is looking to build a top team. The deputy CISO will lead this effort with support and resources.

Warren Sponholtz was recently promoted from a deputy CISO position to state CIO.

The deputy CISO of strategy will lead cybersecurity strategy, planning, risk, governance, training and policy. Reporting to the state CISO, this role coordinates with the deputy CISO to manage statewide cybersecurity efforts.

Specific job duties include:
  • Lead statewide cybersecurity strategic planning
  • Oversee rulemaking and compliance with Florida statute 282.318
  • Develop and manage cybersecurity training programs
  • Handle governance, risk management and compliance
  • Manage agency cybersecurity relationships and knowledge management
A desirable candidate will have an undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science or information technology, with a graduate degree preferred. Highly sought-after certifications include CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, CCISO, CISA and various CISSP credentials. Additional valuable certifications are CCSP, OSCP and CASP.
