The Florida Legislature is seeking to hire a senior information systems engineer.

The candidate would join the Office of Legislative Information Technology Services, which covers the Legislature’s data center, applications, project management, network, systems administration and customer support units.

The position involves defining, designing, coding, documenting and implementing application solutions that adhere to the established architecture and interfaces.

Other job responsibilities include:
  • Research, design and develop .NET applications, including client-facing tools and proofs of concept to showcase functionality and techniques
  • Consult with business analysts and users to define system specifications; document both functional and technical design specifications based on user requirements
  • Develop and review unit test scripts, create test data for system tests and troubleshoot issues in existing systems
  • Mentor development staff and assist in the research and implementation of development tool sets
  • Oversee the deployment of new software, maintain and enhance current systems, and write or review system, application and user documentation; provide status updates to management and handle additional related tasks as needed

Minimum requirements for the role include a bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or engineering, plus five years of relevant experience. Experience can substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
