The Florida Department of Commerce, which promotes economic opportunities through workforce, community and economic development, is looking to add a system project consultant to its IT division and a senior network systems analyst to its network and infrastructure services team.

As a system project consultant, the chosen candidate would oversee the administration of the department’s SQL database servers.

Other job responsibilities include:
  • Managing the department’s SQL database servers in an Azure cloud environment 
  • Installing and configuring SQL servers   
  • Monitoring and performing database backup and recovery, data storage capacity planning, data security management, data transferring and converting, system hardware and software maintenance   
  • Providing technical support to application developers and secondary tier support to end users 
  • Providing information to database designers on how different design features can benefit both systems and users

For the senior network systems analyst role, primary responsibilities include servicing the department’s enterprise infrastructure services network.

  • Managing, designing and assessing near and long-term WAN, LAN and WLAN needs relating to capacity and scalability 
  • Designing and managing VoIP infrastructure and other associated software, including call management systems, voicemail and interactive voice response technology  
  • Designing and managing video conferencing systems, including conference scheduling and video call quality  
  • Conducting testing and development of disaster recovery plans to detect faults and minimize malfunctions related to network functionality  
  • Collaborating with the department’s security team to ensure data confidentiality, integrity and availability
