The county operates on a biennial budget process, meaning during odd-numbered years, two separate 12-month budgets are prepared and approved by the county’s Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).
For example, in September 2023, the BOCC adopted the county’s FY 24 budget and approved a planned budget for FY 25.
Regarding the latter, county staff and the BOCC are currently reviewing the Planned FY 25 budget to accommodate any changes to revenues and expenditures since the document was approved in 2023.
Once all necessary changes are made, the county will formally adopt the FY 25 budget in September 2024.
With that in mind, the county plans to allocate the following funding for IT, cybersecurity, enterprise programs and solutions:
- $45,220,514 has been allocated to the county’s Information Technology Department. Notable FY 24 and 25 projects include migrating 6,000-plus endpoints across the enterprise to Windows 11, expanding document management workflow processes across multiple departments, and collaborating with parking management to design and develop an innovative solution to view all county garages and associated rates.
- $12,525,328 has been allocated to Enterprise Solutions and Quality Assurance, which supports the county’s enterprise resource planning, human capital management systems and related data and software integrations. Notable FY 24 and 25 projects include thoroughly reviewing system configurations and process risks.
- $5,260,156 has been allocated to the county’s Enterprise Program Management Office, which partners with county departments and external stakeholders to plan, manage and deliver customer-centric solutions. Notable FY 24 and 25 projects include implementing virtual building inspection capabilities in HillsGovHub and launching a data management solution that allows for reporting performance measures and data analytics for adult larval surveillance, sentinel chicken and mosquito fish programs.
- $2,501,052 has been allocated to the county’s Cyber Security Services Division. Notable FY 24 and 25 projects include ensuring compliance efforts for its systems and processes align with the latest compliance standards.
