Hillsborough County Public Schools Seeks Proposals for Mass Notification System

The school district is seeking a high-speed, automated mass notification system to deliver emergency and routine notifications to users via a mobile app, email, voice, text and social media.

Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a mass notification system and website design services.

According to the RFP, “this system should seamlessly handle sending timely broadcasts throughout the school year and handle weather-related or other emergencies that could total 7,500 emails, 6,500 text messages and 7,000 robocalls during a single month.”

The school district is also seeking a mobile app development system capable of supporting iOS and Android apps.

Regarding website design needs, the solicitation lists the following:
  • Adding a social media page widget to district and school web pages
  • Implementing an Active Directory connection for the school website admin login
  • Implementing third-party advertisement widgets and codes
  • Accommodating approximately 256 school websites and the district website
  • Having the ability to post from HCPS or all or select school sites
Also noted are the following mass notification system requirements:
  • Transfer all current data into a new system
  • Allow recipients to opt out of communications
  • Send messages to specific bus routes
  • Set up communication for several dates
  • Create templates for repetitive messages
