Indian River County Recruiting for IT Director

The candidate would be responsible for the county’s information systems, geographical information systems and telecommunications divisions.

Indian River County, home to cities such as Vero Beach, Sebastian and Gifford, is looking to hire a director of information technology.

On his LinkedIn profile, previous IT Director Dan Russell displays an end date of May for his role with the county.

According to the job posting, the director would oversee the county’s network infrastructure, software, applications and hardware to ensure continuity of operations, data maintenance, accessibility and efficiency.

Specific job duties include:
  • Establishing objectives and strategies for the county’s IT department  
  • Developing, tracking and controlling IT annual operating and capital budgets 
  • Managing and reducing the county’s cybersecurity risk by ensuring its cybersecurity framework remains compliant with Florida laws, national standards and best practices  
  • Identifying opportunities for investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing and in-house development 
  • Developing business case justifications and cost-benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives 

Minimum requirements for the role include a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience with a minimum of four years' experience in a senior leadership role.
