The city of Jacksonville is requesting about $15.5 million for five of its largest IT-related projects in its Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) for 2024-29.

The proposed CIP runs from Oct. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2029. In total, it would allocate $490 million for 161 projects in the next five years. Of those projects, here’s what’s been set aside for IT:

  • $1.7 million for “Aruba wireless replacement,” which would include a complete Wi-Fi replacement and overhaul
  • $1.2 million for a “building automation system” and hardware and software installations
  • $750,000 to update and upgrade “fire detection and alarm systems,” plus any other related hardware and software
  • $350,000 to purchase and install switches and update and upgrade aging and end-of-life equipment
  • $250,000 to replace data network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls and servers
