Leon County Outlines Tech Initiatives for FY2025

Within the county’s $377.6 million total budget, $12.4 million is proposed for IT services.

Leon County has outlined its proposed IT spending as part of a budget workshop, including operations and capital projects.

The county’s Fiscal Year 2025 budget totals $377.6 million. The Office of Information and Technology’s proposed budget for FY25 is $12.4 million, alongside a $4.7 million capital improvement program.

The office’s budget is split into two parts: $10.1 million for management information services and $2.4 million for geographic information systems.

Also noted in the FY25 budget was capital spending including:
  • $700,000 for county compute infrastructure
  • $409,000 for GIS
  • $350,000 for a Justice Information System upgrade
  • $337,500 for large application refreshes and upgrades
  • $224,270 for user computer upgrades
OIT is the central technology provider for Leon County led by CIO Michelle Taylor. Its goal is to offer improved, efficient and cost-effective technology and telecommunications solutions. The county was recently featured as one of the the top Digital Counties in the nation by Government Technology and the Center for Digital Government*.
