The city of Miami Beach seeks to hire an Information Technology Specialist II.

According to the job posting, “This position is responsible for servicing and supporting technology solutions in accordance with the city’s information technology policies, procedures and security while using approved tools and methodologies.”

Other job responsibilities include providing front-line support and training for end users encountering troubles with technology, repairing and supporting city-owned computer systems, and overseeing all day-to-day planning, coordination, implementation, maintenance and operation of computer systems and other related technologies.

As for essential duties, the job posting lists the following:
  • Conducting advanced technical work and analysis of end-user devices in centralized management information systems  
  • Managing and maintaining desktop, laptop and mobile device inventory and providing support for warranty repairs 
  • Recording trouble tickets via the city’s help desk system and tracking other work in IT-designated systems 
  • Providing consistent systemwide updates and security enhancements to users as defined by the city’s IT strategy and procedures 
  • Providing computer technical services for assigned departments  
Minimum requirements for the role include having a bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, mathematics or another closely related field, plus four to five years of full-time experience in a role that demonstrates strong customer service and technical capabilities.
