Miami Beach Seeks Speed Detection Camera System for School Zones

The chosen vendor for the opportunity would supply a school zone speed detection system for up to eight initial locations identified by the city’s traffic consultant and monitor the system for violations.

Miami Beach has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for vendors to supply a school zone speed detection system in eight initial locations, with the potential to add more locations down the line.

According to the RFP, “All installation, capital, electrical, maintenance, calibration, administration and regulatory compliance costs are the responsibility of the vendor.”

The city’s traffic consultant will identify all potential locations to be monitored by the system.

As for a specific scope of services, the RFP lists the following requirements for vendors:

  • Provide a detailed level of overview of the proposed system, including its compliance with all local, county, state and federal requirements 
  • Provide details on equipment as well as image quality, storage capacity, self-test capabilities, operating in varying weather conditions, reliability, parts and assembly, including countries of origin 
  • Provide details on software and data capabilities of the proposed system and compliance with retention requirements of all applicable local, county, state and federal laws and ordinances 
  • Provide details on the proposed infraction processing system  
  • Provide details on the reporting, statistical analysis and log maintenance capabilities of the system  

More detailed information about solicitation 2024-274-DF, including all submission requirements and requests, can be found online. A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at 10 a.m. April 18. The deadline for responses is 3 p.m. May 21.
