Miami-Dade County Drafts Future Contract for Construction Cost Software

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue recently published a draft of the scope of services for a future competitive contract to establish a contract to provide a construction cost estimating software solution.

Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue will soon be soliciting proposals to establish a contract for a construction cost estimating software solution.

According to a draft document from the department, “The software will enhance the accuracy and efficiency of construction project budgeting, cost estimation and financial forecasting.”

The solution must also “help streamline estimating workflows, reduce errors and support cost control measures throughout the lifecycle of construction projects,” the draft document states.

Additional software requirements include:
  • Supporting multiple project types (i.e., commercial, infrastructure, etc.) 
  • Offering an intuitive user interface and robust reporting features 
  • Enhancing collaboration among project teams, contractors and stakeholders  
  • Scalability to meet the needs of projects of various sizes and complexities 
Also noted in the draft document is the following scope of work for the contract:
  • Core estimating features 
    • Must be able to generate detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment and overhead 
    • Provide support for customizable cost databases, including regional cost variations 
    • Offer templates for common construction activities and the ability to create custom templates 
  • Integration capabilities 
    • Must be able to integrate with project management, accounting and scheduling software 
  • User access and collaboration 
    • Offer multiuser support with role-based access controls 
    • Must be cloud-based with real-time collaboration features 
  • Reporting and analytics 
    • Generate detailed project cost reports, variance analysis and forecasting tools 
    • Provide support for exporting reports in various formats (PDF, EXCEL, CSV) 
  • Data security 
    • Offer robust data encryption and backup systems 
    • Must comply with industry standards for data protection and privacy 
The contract term will span seven years, with two- to three-year renewal options.
