Based on the review, vendors would submit recommendations to the school district to improve data interoperability, enhance data security and governance, and optimize data-driven decision-making.
After that, a request for proposals (RFP) or invitation to negotiate (ITN) may follow.
As for conducting the comprehensive review, the school district is asking vendors for the following:
- Assess the current state of the district’s data infrastructure, including systems, processes, policies and practices related to data collection, storage, integration, analysis, security, privacy and governance.
- Evaluate data governance practices within M-DCPS, focusing on ensuring data consistency, trustworthiness, security and compliance with privacy regulations for accurate decision-making in the educational setting.
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies and areas for improvement in the district’s data infrastructure and management and governance practices. “This may include silos that hinder data sharing and analysis, manual processes that could be automated, outdated systems or practices or areas where the district is not fully leveraging data to inform decision-making,” the RFI states.
- Provide recommendations to modernize the district’s data infrastructure and management practices.
- Develop a road map and implementation plan to put recommendations into practice, including short-term and longer-term initiatives.
More information about RFI 24-007-CM can be found online. A pre-proposal conference will be held Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. via Zoom. Vendors must submit responses to M-DCPS by 1 p.m. on Aug. 27.
