Miami-Dade Public Schools Seeking IM and Parent Notification System

The system must have the capability to deliver instant messages to 400,000 recipients.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to secure an instant messaging and parent notification system.

According to the RFP, the automated system will transmit messages related to attendance, emergencies and school notifications to parents, students and employees.

The selected vendor must ensure support for an unlimited number of messages, 24/7, reaching approximately 400,000 recipients (students, parents and employees) simultaneously, for both immediate and future communications. Miami-Dade County Public Schools is the third-largest school district in the nation, with more than 380,000 students and adult learners, according to its website.

Other requirements include:
  • An emergency communication system, covering recorded phone calls, voicemail, text messages, push notifications, attendance updates, email, surveys and community outreach
  • Integration via API with M-DCPS' existing system for recorded phone calls, voicemail, text messages, push notifications, attendance updates, email and community outreach
  • Provide training (in person and online) as needed for new users
  • 24-hour customer support
