Earlier this week, the
Orlando Police Department (OPD) launched a new public safety app, providing residents with real-time updates on local incidents and access to various community resources.
According to a recent
LinkedIn post from the department, “The OPD app aims to consolidate OPD resources into a user-friendly app that will significantly enhance accessibility, allow users to report non-emergency issues, learn valuable crime prevention tips and more.”
Currently, users can access the following features through the app:
- Active call updates
- Neighborhood incidents
- Crime prevention tips
- Records request
- Community resources
“Our goal with the OPD app is to create a safer, more connected community. In an increasingly digital world, we believe OPD resources should be readily available to the people we serve,” said Eric Smith, chief of the Orlando Police Department, in a department LinkedIn post. “It is my hope that the OPD app will strengthen community engagement by making our public safety materials accessible to everyone, anywhere, with the tap of a smartphone.”
