Palm Beach County Issues Request for Fiber-Optic Cable Vendors

The primary objective of this request for pre-qualification is to assemble a list of pre-approved vendors specifically for the provision of fiber-optic cable within Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach County has issued a request for pre-qualification (RPQ) of vendors for the procurement and delivery of fiber-optic cable.

Per RPQ #24-044/ZG, the pre-approved vendor is expected to:
  • Provide and transport cable and wire meeting the specified requirements within the designated time frame
  • Abide by all terms, conditions, specifications and stipulations as outlined
  • Incorporate shipping/freight charges and surcharges into their unit pricing

Fiber-optic cables must meet U.S. Department of Agriculture RUS Code 7 CFR 1755.900 and ANSI/ICEA standards.

Quantities for the fiber-optic cables are as follows:
  • 10,000 feet per reel plus or minus 10 percent overrun for 12-count fiber.
  • 25,000 feet per reel plus or minus 10 percent overrun for 24- and 48-count fiber.
  • 20,000 feet per reel plus or minus 10 percent overrun for 96-count fiber.
  • No reels should exceed dimensions of 40 inches in width and 72 inches in height.

Palm Beach County's local preference ordinance prioritizes vendors with permanent businesses in the county or the Glades area, provided they can offer local goods/services.

The submission date for solicitations is 4 p.m. March 21. Interested vendors can access RPQ #24-044/ZG online via the Palm Beach County Vendor Self Service (VSS) System. The contact listed for the solicitation is Bridget Williams.
