The city, located 30 miles north of Miami, is home to a range of industries such as marine, tourism and finance.

Ft. Lauderdale's LauderWorks online service tracks ongoing projects throughout the city, filterable by neighborhood, commission district and project type. The city has invested more than $1 billion to enhance and maintain its infrastructure network.

This year, the city launched its Community Investment Plan (CIP). The CIP encompasses a five-year improvement strategy from FY 2024 to FY 2028.
