The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) aims to improve public safety by working with local, state and federal agencies to prevent and solve crimes, protecting Florida’s residents and visitors.

The agency was established in 1967 and is composed of five areas: Executive Direction and Business Support, Criminal Investigations and Forensic Science, Criminal Justice Information, Criminal Justice Professionalism, and Florida Capitol Police.

“Since September 11, 2001, FDLE has led Florida’s domestic security efforts,” the website says. The department has seven Regional Domestic Security Task Forces across the state that include first responders, public health and law enforcement.

As for technology, the governor’s recommendations for FDLE for FY 2024-2025 include:
  • $60 million to information networking services
  • $34 million to prevention and crime information services
