Speakers Set for Inaugural Southern Florida Digital Government Summit

On Oct. 28, Government Technology will host its inaugural Southern Florida Digital Government Summit, featuring Miami-Dade County CIO Margaret Brisbane, Palm Beach County CIO Archie Satchell and other local tech leaders.

The inaugural Southern Florida Digital Government Summit, which will bring together public-sector technologists and industry representatives to connect on innovative approaches, is scheduled for Oct. 28, and the agenda has been finalized.

The conference is presented by Government Technology magazine, a sister publication to Industry Insider — Florida, and is open to those working in the public sector. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 4:50 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport and Convention Center.

In addition to opening remarks by Margaret Brisbane, chief information officer and director of Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department, several of South Florida’s top technology leaders will speak, including Miami Beach CIO Frank Quintana and Coral Gables Chief Innovation Officer Raimundo Rodulfo.

Numerous breakout sessions are scheduled throughout the day, featuring speakers and panelists from the city of Coral Gables, Miami Dade College and Florida International University, among other entities. A few breakouts include:
  • “The Art of the Possible: AI in Action” with Ana Chammas, Miami-Dade County’s innovation director; Margaret Brisbane, CIO of Miami-Dade County; Antonio Delgado, vice president of innovation and technology partnerships for Miami Dade College; Eileen Higgins, Miami-Dade County commissioner for District 5; and Matias Ruiz, Microsoft general manager of customer success for state and local government
  • “Building a Resilient Cybersecurity Framework” with Hansa Bernal, senior national conference director for Government Technology; Tommy Gardner, chief technology officer of HP Federal; Donavan Johnson, assistant professor at Florida International University; and Miami-Dade County CISO Lars Schmekel 
  • “Sharing Data Makes Government Go Round” with Carrie Mast, CIO of St. Lucie County; Lillian Abreu, assistant director and research associate at Florida International University; Cheriene Floyd, chief data officer for the city of Miami; and Raimundo Rodulfo, director of innovation and technology and chief innovation officer of Coral Gables 
  • “Designing for All: The Future of the Constituent Experience” with Cassandra Arnold, deputy chief of staff of the office of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava; Gee Chow, CIO of the city of Miami; and Jose Lopez, director of business applications for Miami-Dade County 
  • “The Evolving IT Workforce Landscape” with Terri-Ann Brown, director of Miami Tech Works; Johanna Mikkola, CEO and co-founder of Tech Equity Miami; Archie Satchell, CIO of Palm Beach County; and Frank Quintana, CIO of Miami Beach 
Representatives from various sponsoring companies and moderators from the public and private sectors will also participate in the event. Networking opportunities and lunch are included in the day’s agenda.
