St. Johns River Water Management District Seeks Virtual CISO Services

The district has issued a request for proposals for a managed security service provider to contract a virtual chief information security officer to develop and oversee the district’s cybersecurity program.

St. Johns River Water Management District has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for virtual chief information security officer (vCISO) services.

According to the RFP, the district seeks recommendations from a managed security service provider for a vCISO to develop and oversee the district’s cybersecurity program on an as-needed basis.

The district currently has 550 employees and 10 offices across northeast Florida, plus a primary data center in Palatka. It also maintains various web applications to support itself, the Suwannee River Water Management District and the Northwest Florida Water Management District.

The district is seeking a vCISO to achieve the following:
  • Establish and document a cybersecurity program during the first six months of the contract 
  • Consolidate current incident response plan (IRP) components into a stand-alone IRP 
  • Develop and document a vulnerability and patch management program 
  • Review current cybersecurity awareness training and recommend a training program for employees 
  • Develop a risk matrix for the district’s information technology
