The city of Tallahassee is seeking a communications systems and network infrastructure engineer to safeguard all components of its networks and telecommunications systems.

According to the job posting, the candidate should have, “knowledge of network systems analysis, multi-vendor firewalls, routing and fiber optics, VPN technologies, data communications techniques, telephony infrastructure and IT management principles.”

Other duties and responsibilities include:
  • Design, install and troubleshoot networking equipment and security applications for wired and wireless networks
  • Provide advice on network issues and analyze security vulnerabilities
  • Coordinate and manage network-related projects, including vendor communication
  • Perform installation and maintenance of local and wide area networks
  • Stay updated on networking technologies and maintain documentation

To qualify, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in data processing, information systems, computer science or a related field, plus three years of experience in network communications and VPN support. The role also requires three years of experience in telecommunications systems, including voice communications and network infrastructure design or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
