Tampa’s Technology and Innovation Department seeks to accomplish the following goals in the next five years:

- Align IT services with the city’s business objectives
- Be the IT and electronics service provider for all city departments, administration and external agencies
- Apply technology to modernize how city government works
- Enable technology to play a critical role in the economic future of the city
In terms of specific technology and innovation projects, the city’s capital budget highlights the following:
- $9.9 million for public safety communications technology for FY 2024-2028
- $2.5 million for citywide backup data center upgrades for FY 2024-2028
- $2.4 million for a new Oracle recruiting model for FY 2024-2025
- $1.6 million for replacing IT management systems that have reached end of life for FY 2023-2024
Other notable capital budget allocations for FY 2023-2024 include $545,000 for the city’s OnBase agenda and document management system, $400,000 for its customer service center, $230,000 for timekeeping and analytics services and $194,000 for Tampa Police’s data mart revamp.
