Last week, during a Florida House of Representatives IT Budget and Policy Subcommittee hearing, lawmakers recognized Jeremy Daniell as the Florida Department of Elder Affairs CIO, formally replacing Jonathan Yeaton, who stepped down from the role last year.
Yeaton held the position from April 2022 to December 2024, overseeing the department’s IT strategy and operations. He has since taken on a management consulting role with Accenture in Tallahassee.
The department confirmed Daniell’s new role in an email to Industry Insider — Florida, stating: “Jeremy Daniell joined the Florida Department of Elder Affairs in February as chief information officer, bringing over two decades of state IT experience.”
Prior to being appointed, “Daniell spent two years in the private sector, focusing on cloud application development projects,” the spokesperson wrote.
According to Daniell’s LinkedIn profile, he most recently worked in the private sector as a Salesforce engagement manager for Kyra Solutions.
“Before transitioning to the private sector, he dedicated much of his career to Florida public service, working in various state agencies in roles related to IT service management, application development, infrastructure management, performance measurement and project and contract management,” the spokesperson added.
Daniell previously worked as a program management office manager and senior IT project manager with the Florida Department of Financial Services. He also served as a project manager and an IT business consultant manager for the Department of Management Services and worked with the Florida State Technology Office as a technology administrator.
During his previous tenure with the state, “he implemented project portfolio management, developed an IT training program, established performance measures, managed multiple modernization projects, conducted solution evaluations, and negotiated an aggregate licensing purchase — an achievement that earned him a Davis Productivity Award in the individual category,” the spokesperson wrote.
Daniell holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy from the University of South Florida and has been a certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute since 2007.
