Tracking the Spend: Department of Environmental Protection Spent $15M on IT Buys in 2023

Specific purchases of IT services by the Department of Environmental Protection in 2023 included $500,938 for information technology consultation services.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) spent $15 million in 2023 on IT-related services.

Department responsibilities include overseeing and managing “175 state parks, more than 12 million acres of public lands and 4 million acres of coastal uplands and submerged lands,” per DEP’s website.

The department’s five largest buys of IT services totaled $3,814,572 from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, according to the Florida Accountability Contract Tracking System.

Below are the department’s five largest buys:
  • $1,702,077 to Wes Environmental LLC, which provides water treatment and environmental services
  • $577,031 to ATC Group Services LLC, which provides industrial hygiene, environmental, waste characterization and health and safety management services
  • $532,792 to FRS Environmental Mediation, which offers waste services, such as lab pack, hazardous waste transportation and overpacking services
  • $501,733 to Creative Environmental Solutions, which provides environmental and engineering services to support concrete ready mix and block plants across the state
  • $500,938 to Kyra Solutions Inc., which provides low-code solutions to government

Regarding specific purchases, the department spent about $3.3 million on environmental rehabilitation and $500,938 on IT consultation services.
