Tracking the Spend: Department of Health Spent $45M in IT Purchases in Q1 of 2024

In the first quarter of the year, the Florida Department of Health procured goods and services from Dell Marketing L.P., Insight Public Sector Inc., Henry Schein Inc. and more.

The Department of Health assesses the state’s public health needs, enforces sanitation regulations, manages communicable diseases and collaborates with all levels of government to address health threats.

Here are the five largest IT-related purchases made by the agency from Jan. 1 to March 31, rounded up, based on data from the Florida Accountability Contract Tracking System:

  • $2.7 million to Dell Marketing L.P., a company that focuses on the wholesale distribution of computers, computer peripherals and software
  • $2.1 million to Insight Public Sector Inc., a firm that provides advanced technology solutions to organizations including end-to-end capabilities
  • $1.4 million to Henry Schein Inc., a health-care distributor of medical supplies, services, point-of-care diagnostics and equipment
  • $1.3 million to Fisher Scientific LLC, a company that provides products and comprehensive support services to the scientific research, health-care, and science education sectors
  • $1.1 million to McKesson Medical-Surgical, a medical distributor specializing in medical supplies, health-care solutions, distribution services, pharmaceuticals, and clinical resources

Regarding specific purchases, the department spent about $1.8 million on medical vocational training services, $1.6 million on IT consultation services, $1.4 million on vaccines and antigens and toxoids, and $803,158 on individual health screening and assessments.
