Tracking the Spend: Department of Transportation Spent $19M on IT Services in Q1

During the first quarter, the department acquired goods and services from SHI International Corp., Taylor'd HVAC Services Inc., Insight Public Sector Inc. and several other providers.

The Florida Department of Transportation spent $19 million on IT services in the first quarter this year, $8 million of which went to five vendors between Jan. 1 and March 31.

The department oversees the establishment, upkeep and regulation of public transportation networks throughout Florida.

Here are those IT-related purchases, rounded up, based on data from the Florida Accountability Contract Tracking System:
  • $1.7 million to SHI International Corp., a provider of IT infrastructure, end-user computing solutions, cybersecurity measures and services aimed at optimizing IT operations
  • $1.6 million to Taylor’d HVAC Services Inc., a commercial HVAC repair and service provider
  • $1 million to Insight Public Sector Inc., a public-sector IT solution company that develops, secures, deploys and manages technology
  • $1 million to Gartner Inc., a research-based IT service provider that uses private consulting as well as executive programs and conferences
  • $1 million to Compuquip Technologies LLC, a company that manages cybersecurity solutions

Regarding specific purchases, the department spent about $2 million on air conditioning services or repairs, $1.5 million on IT consultation services, $1 million on application or technology research and development services, $1 million on traffic control, and $1 million on software maintenance and support.
