Hillsborough County and the city of Oakland Park are seeking candidates for key specialty positions in technology.

Hillsborough County is seeking a solutions architect to design information systems architecture and collaborate with stakeholders.

Job duties include:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and design tactical architectures for projects
  • Develop a strategic road map for enterprise application systems and manage system architecture
  • Plan and oversee system solution migration, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards
  • Establish policies and guidelines to align IT strategy with business objectives
  • Supervise and mentor technical personnel in software design and support activities
The candidate chosen for the role should have:
  • Knowledge of computer systems, applications, operating systems and .NET development, with proven experience in building system road maps and cloud platform solutions
  • Strong expertise in business process modeling, benchmarking and financial analysis, along with familiarity in project methodologies and technical documentation
  • Proven ability to design, integrate and manage complex infrastructure and system architectures
  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills, with experience in organizing and prioritizing multiple complex projects to meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with end users, vendors and management
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in computer technology or a related field, plus seven to 10 years of experience in enterprise systems architecture and project management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Oakland Park, located in Broward County, is seeking an IT network administrator to recommend and implement enhancements, while deploying and configuring new networking solutions.

Duties listed for the positions include:
  • Monitor the city’s network connections and performance, addressing issues promptly
  • Identify and disconnect unauthorized network devices until they can be secured
  • Analyze network traffic to shut down suspicious or unauthorized connections
  • Maintain the Nutanix HCI server cluster, implementing necessary updates and upgrades
  • Proactively address potential vulnerabilities and unauthorized access to ensure network security
A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, is required, along with a minimum of three years of IT networking experience in design, deployment and maintenance. Candidates must possess two or more valid certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) or obtain them within nine months of employment.

Additional qualifications include:
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with VeloCloud SDWAN and Meraki networking products
  • Proficient in the SolarWinds suite of network monitoring products and other equivalent solutions, with a strong understanding of AD, IP, TCP/IP, SNMP and network administration protocols
  • Solid expertise in Windows Server (2012, 2016 and 2019) and Windows 10 or higher, along with knowledge of Nutanix HCI solutions and VMware Tools
  • Experience using automated tools for managing Windows OS updates, software patches and vendor hotfixes
  • Excellent communication skills, able to present technical concepts in an accessible way, work independently on complex issues and collaborate effectively within a team
