Volusia County Proposes $17M+ for IT in FY 2024-25 Budget

The county’s Fiscal Year 2024-25 recommended budget outlines funds for various tech projects, including ERP system upgrades, server replacements and more.

Volusia County, which includes cities such as Daytona Beach, DeLand and New Smyrna Beach, is requesting about $12.5 million for IT in its Fiscal Year 2024-25 recommended budget, plus $5.3 million for IT capital projects.

The county’s operating budget totals $1.3 billion, and its non-operating budget, which is used for capital projects and other investments, is $257 million.

The county proposes allocating $12.5 million to its information technology budget, which includes personnel services, operating expenses, reimbursements, capital outlay and reserves.

As for the county’s IT capital projects fund, $5.3 million will go toward software upgrades or replacing its enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions. The latter provides financial management, human resources, payroll management, procurement, performance budgeting and business intelligence functions.

Other notable IT funding includes:
  • $1.5 million for audiovisual software for the emergency operations center
  • $304,000 to replace eight servers
  • $250,000 for storage area network 
  • $200,000 for DeLand Data Center’s uninterruptible power supply 
  • $187,500 for a phone system upgrade
