Volusia County School District has appointed Paul Metzger as director of its Information Technology Services (ITS) Software and Systems Department.

According to the school district’s website, the “department implements, manages and supports all of the district’s software and systems” and coordinates “district department accountability and state reporting data and events through the data management calendar committee, which meets biweekly throughout the year.”

Other notable groups within the department include its systems engineering team, business applications team and student information systems team, which oversee the installation and configuration of software and hardware, support ERP software and develop integrations with other applications to export and import data for various systems.

As director, Metzger will use his “wealth of experience and great attitude toward advancing the state of the art in technology for K-12 education,” according to a LinkedIn post from Matt Kuhn, the school district’s chief technology officer.

Before joining Volusia County School District, Metzger held several private-sector positions, including a senior project manager and vice president of operations role for Fox Chapel Publishing, a senior project manager role with FSI Trading Co., and a manager of consumer and educational products position with MapQuest and AOL.
