Florida Lottery and FGCC Ask for $6.3M for IT Projects

The agencies’ legislative budget requests cover several tech-related projects, including the Florida Gaming Control Commission procuring a regulatory, licensing, and enforcement system and improving the Florida Lottery’s reporting structure.

The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) and Florida Lottery are requesting a combined total of $6.3 million for six technology initiatives in their legislative budget requests.

The FGCC is a regulatory body overseeing gambling in the state, while Lottery operates the state lottery.

The FGCC is requesting $6 million, which includes:
  • $4.7 million to procure a regulatory, licensing and enforcement system
  • $860,396 to establish the necessary infrastructure, software and personnel to support the functions of the commission’s law enforcement duties 
  • $398,140 to hire a program manager and a customer relations manager to help implement Florida’s Planning, Accounting, and Ledger Management (PALM) system 
  • $22,849 for a salary rate increase for an FGCC IT position responsible for architecting and managing on-premises and cloud-based solutions  
The Florida Lottery is requesting $299,555:
  • $158,635 for information resources staff position reclassifications 
  • $140,920 to support changes to the estimated costs between the Northwest Regional Data Center and the department
